جمعہ کے دن کی عظمت اور فضیلت

It is narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Of all the days upon which the sun rises (that is, the seven days of the week), the best and most excellent is Friday. On this day Adam (peace be upon him) was created, on this day he was admitted into Paradise, on this day he was expelled from it and sent down to the world, and on this day the Resurrection will take place.” (Muslim)

This day is called Yawm al-Jumu'ah (the Day of Gathering) because it is the day of the Muslims' assembly. Of the six days in which Allah created the heavens, the earth and the whole universe, the last was Friday, on which that work of creation was completed. It is a day of Allah's special blessings and mercies, and for this reason great events have taken place, and will take place, on this day by Allah's will. It is because of these very qualities that Friday was appointed for the important and magnificent congregational prayer. The greatness of this day may also be gauged from the fact that an entire chapter of the Holy Qur'an is named after it, in which the rulings and matters of this day are set out.
