ایمان کے درجے
حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے سنا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فرماتے تھے: ”جو شخص تم میں سے کسی برائی کو (ہوتے) دیکھے، تو اسے اپنے ہاتھ سے بدل (روک) دے، اگر (ہاتھ سے روکنے کی) طاقت نہیں تو زبان سے (اس کی برائی کو واضح کرے)، اگر اس کی بھی طاقت نہ ہو، تو دل سے (اسے برا جانے) اور یہ ایمان کا کمزور ترین درجہ ہے“۔ (مسلم)
اس حدیث مبارک میں اسلامی معاشرے کو منکرات سے روکنے کے لیے ایک نہایت اہم حکم دیا گیا ہے، مسلمان جب تک اس پر عمل کرتے رہے اور امر بالمعروف و نہی عن المنکر کا فریضہ بلا خوف اور بغیر کسی کے مفاد کے ادا کرتے رہے، مسلمان معاشرہ بہت سی برائیوں، گناہ اور قباحتوں سے محفوظ رہا، اور جب مسلمانوں نے اس اہم فریضے کو فراموش کردیا، تو ان کا معاشرہ منکرات کے سیلاب کی زد میں آگیا۔
اس حدیث کی رو سے ہر مسلمان پر واجب ہے، کہ جو برائیاں اس کے سامنے ہوں اور زور قوت سے روکی جا سکتی ہوں تو اسے زور قوت کے استعمال سے اس برائی کو روکنے کی کوشش کرے، اور اگر زور قوت حاصل نہیں ہے تو پھر زبانی افہام و تفہیم سے کام لے، اور اگر اس درجے کی بھی قوت حاصل نہ ہو تو کم از کم اپنے دل میں اس برائی کے خلاف جذبہ رکھے اور اسے برا جانے اور اس کو برا مانے اور یہ ایمان کا کمزور ترین درجہ ہے۔
آج کھلم کھلا خدائے پاک کی نافرمانیاں ہورہی ہیں، لیکن نہ زبان سے کوئی کلمہ کہنے کے روادار ہیں، اور نہ ہاتھ سے روکنے کا تو ذکر ہی کیا ہے، کاش! آج پھر سب مسلمان اس فریضے کی ادائیگی کی طرف توجہ دیں تا کہ اس منکرات کے سیلاب کے آگے بند باندھا جاسکے، اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو اس اہم فریضے کو اخلاص نیت کے ساتھ ادا کرنے کی توفیق مرحمت فرمائے (آمین)۔

English translation
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it (stop it) with his hand; if he is not able (to stop it with his hand), then with his tongue (by making its wrongness clear); and if he is not able to do even that, then with his heart (by hating it) — and that is the weakest degree of faith." (Muslim)
In this noble hadith a very important command has been given for restraining evils in Muslim society. As long as the Muslims acted upon it and discharged the duty of enjoining good and forbidding evil without fear and without any self-interest, Muslim society remained protected from many evils, sins and vices; but when the Muslims neglected this important duty, their society was engulfed in a flood of evils. By this hadith it is obligatory upon every Muslim that, as for the evils before him which can be stopped by force, he should try to stop them by using force; if he does not have such power, then he should resort to verbal persuasion and reasoning; and if he does not have even that degree of power, then at the very least he should hold in his heart a feeling against that evil, hate it and regard it as wrong — and that is the weakest degree of faith. Today the pure God is being disobeyed openly, yet people are not willing to say a single word with the tongue, let alone stopping it with the hand. Would that all Muslims today turn their attention to fulfilling this duty, so that a barrier may be raised against this flood of evils. May Allah grant us all the ability to fulfil this important duty with sincerity of intention (Ameen).
