مصافحہ کرنا

It is narrated from Bara' ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When two Muslims meet and shake hands, and along with that praise Allah and seek forgiveness for themselves, they will surely be forgiven."

(Sunan Abu Dawud)

At the time of meeting, one means of expressing love, joy and the spirit of honouring and respecting — over and above the greeting of salam — is the handshake (musafaha), which usually accompanies or follows the salam and, as it were, completes its purposes. This hadith directs that whenever a person meets someone and, after giving salam, shakes hands with his Muslim brother, and together with that praises and glorifies Allah and prays to Allah for forgiveness for himself and his brother, the two of them will certainly be forgiven.
