اللہ کی رحمت پر کامل بھروسہ

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Adopt the path of moderation and remain steadfast, and know that none of you will be saved by his deeds alone." The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "O Messenger of Allah, not even you?" He replied, "No, not even I, unless Allah covers me with His grace and mercy." (Muslim)

This blessed hadith teaches us that, alongside faith, the importance of good deeds is a reality in its own right, for they are the means of attaining Allah's mercy and grace. Yet a person should not place his entire reliance on his deeds alone, nor should he ever be under the mistaken belief that he will enter Paradise solely on the strength of his own actions — for a deed may be ruined by some shortcoming of which we are not even aware, and who can ever fully discharge the due right of obedience and servitude to Allah? So along with acting, one should keep praying: "O Allah, accept our deeds in Your court, cover us in the folds of Your mercy, and grant us the ability to perform every deed with sincerity of intention." The right course for a person is to adopt moderation in life and to place complete trust in the mercy and forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah's mercy will encompass him, and — Allah willing — he will reach his desired destination, just as Allah Himself says to His beloved Prophet, the last of the messengers, telling him to give glad tidings to His servants: "Say (O Prophet, on My behalf to My servants): O My servants who have wronged their own souls, do not despair of Allah's mercy; indeed Allah forgives all sins — it only requires that you repent. Truly He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful." (Az-Zumar 53)
