سورۃ بقرہ کی آخری دو آیتوں کی فضیلت
حضرت ابن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ: ”جس نے رات کو سورۃ بقرہ کی آخری دو آیتیں (اٰمَنَ الرَّسُوْلُ سے اِلْقَوْمِ الْکَافِرِیْنَ تک) پڑھیں، وہ اس کو کافی ہوجائیں گی (یعنی رات بھر یہ شخص جن و بشر کی شرارتوں سے محفوظ رہے گا)۔“ (بخاری و مسلم)
قرآن مجید کی عظمت و بزرگی اور اس کی فضیلت و رفعت کے لیے یہی کافی ہے کہ وہ خداوند عالم، مالک ارض و سما اور خالق لوح و قلم کا کلام ہے، تمام عیوب اور تمام نقائص سے بری اور پاک ہے، فصاحت و بلاغت کا وہ آخری نقطہ عروج کہ بڑے بڑے فصیح و بلیغ عرب اس کے سامنے طفل مکتب، علوم و معارف اور فکر و دانش کا وہ کوہ ہمالہ کہ دنیا کے بڑے بڑے مفکر فلسفی، دانشور اور ارباب فکر و نظر اس سے سر ٹکرائیں۔
قرآن مجید کے علاوہ دنیا میں کامیابی حاصل کرنے اور آخرت میں نجات پانے کا کوئی کامل وسیلہ نہیں ہے، کلام اللہ میں ہر مشکل کا حل اور ہر سوال کا جواب ہے، قیامت تک دنیا اس سے ہدایت حاصل کرتی رہے گی، جو لوگ اسے قبول کریں گے مومن کہلائیں گے اور جو اس پر عمل کریں گے کامیاب ہوں گے، جان لیں آج کی سب سے بڑی ضرورت اس بات کی ہے کہ قرآن پڑھیں، اس پر عمل کریں، قرآن اترا ہے چودہ سو برس پہلے لیکن یہ تا قیامت نوع انسانی کو جتنے مسائل درپیش آئیں گے ان سب کا حل اس میں ہے، البتہ تلاش کرنا پڑے گا، اس میں غوطہ زنی کرنی ہوگی۔
قرآن میں ہو غوطہ زن اے مرد مسلمان
اللہ کرے تجھ کو عطا جدت کردار
آج کی ہدایت بھی اسی قرآن میں چھپی ہوئی ہے، اس کو اس سے نکالنا، آج کے انسان کی رہنمائی اس قرآن سے اخذ کر کے تمام انسانوں تک پہنچانا یہ ہے فریضہ امتِ محمدیہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا۔
یوں تو قرآن مجید کا ایک ایک لفظ، ایک ایک آیت پر معنی اور حسن معنوی سے بھر پور ہے، لیکن ہر صورت اور آیت فضیلت کے اعتبار سے جدا جدا ہے، اس حدیث مبارکہ میں سورۃ بقرہ جس کو قرآن مجید کی چوٹی کہا گیا کی آخری دو آیتوں کی فضیلت کا بیان ہے، اس حدیث مبارکہ ”کافی ہو جائیں گی“ کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ رات میں ان آیتوں کے پڑھنے کی وجہ سے انسان و جنات کے شرارت و ایذا سے محفوظ رہتا ہے گویا یہ آیتیں اس کے لیے دافع شر و بلا ہوجاتی ہیں، دوسرا مطلب یہ ہے کہ یہ آیتیں اس کے حق میں عبادت و ذکر کے لیے شب بیداری کا قائم مقام بن جاتی ہیں۔
ان آخری دو آیتوں کی اتنی فضیلت ہے کہ حضرت فاروق اعظم رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اور حضرت علی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا کہ ہمارا یہ خیال ہے کہ کوئی آدمی جس کو کچھ بھی عقل ہو وہ سورۃ بقرہ کی ان دو آیتوں کو پڑھے بغیر نہ سوئے گا۔
اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو قرآن مجید کی ان آیتوں کی افادیت کو سمجھنے کی اور ہر رات سونے سے پہلے ان کو پڑھنے کا معمول بنانے کی توفیق عطا فرمائے۔ آمین!

English translation
Ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the noble Messenger ﷺ said: "Whoever recites the last two verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah at night (from 'Āmana al-Rasūl' up to 'al-qawm al-kāfirīn'), they will suffice him (that is, through the night this person will be protected from the mischief of jinn and men)." (Bukhārī and Muslim)
For the greatness and majesty of the Glorious Qur'an, and for its excellence and loftiness, this alone suffices: that it is the speech of the Lord of the worlds, Master of the earth and the heavens, Creator of the Preserved Tablet and the Pen; free and pure of every fault and every defect; the highest pinnacle of eloquence and rhetoric — before which the greatest and most eloquent of the Arabs are as schoolchildren; and such a Himalaya of knowledge, learning, thought and wisdom that the world's greatest thinkers, philosophers, scholars and men of intellect and insight break their heads against it.
Apart from the Glorious Qur'an there is no complete means of attaining success in this world and salvation in the Hereafter. In the Word of Allah lies the solution to every difficulty and the answer to every question; until the Day of Judgement the world will keep drawing guidance from it. Those who accept it will be called believers, and those who act upon it will be successful. Know that the greatest need of today is this: to read the Qur'an and to act upon it. The Qur'an was revealed fourteen hundred years ago, yet the solution to every problem that will confront humankind until the Day of Judgement lies within it — though one must search, one must dive deep into it.
Dive deep into the Qur'an, O Muslim man; may Allah grant you a fresh and dynamic character.
Today's guidance too lies hidden in this very Qur'an; to draw it out, and to extract from this Qur'an the guidance for today's human being and convey it to all people — this is the duty of the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ. While every single word of the Glorious Qur'an, every single verse, is full of meaning and moral beauty, each verse still differs from another in its degree of excellence. This blessed hadith speaks of the excellence of the last two verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah — the sūrah that has been called the summit of the Glorious Qur'an. The meaning of "they will suffice him" in this blessed hadith is that, because of reciting these verses at night, a person remains protected from the mischief and harm of men and jinn — as if these verses become for him a repeller of evil and calamity; a second meaning is that, in his case, these verses take the place of night-vigil in worship and remembrance.
So great is the excellence of these last two verses that ʿUmar al-Fārūq and ʿAlī (may Allah be pleased with them) said that it is their view that no person who has any sense would sleep without reciting these two verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah.
May Allah the Exalted grant us all the ability to understand the benefit of these verses of the Glorious Qur'an and to make it our habit to recite them every night before sleeping. Āmīn!
