شبِ قدر سے محرومی، حرماں نصیبی
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ (ایک بار) رمضان المبارک کا مہینہ آیا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "یہ مہینہ آ گیا ہے، اس میں ایک رات (یعنی شب قدر) ہے جو ہزار مہینوں سے بہتر ہے، جو اس رات سے محروم رہ گیا وہ ہر بھلائی سے محروم رہا اور اس کی برکت سے بس وہی محروم رہتا ہے جو (واقعی بڑا) محروم ہو۔" (ابن ماجہ)
یوں تو انسان کی زندگی کے شب و روز اور اس کا ہر لمحہ نہایت قیمتی ہے اور اس کو زیادہ سے زیادہ نیک اعمال بجا لانے میں صرف کرنا چاہیے، لیکن اللہ رب العزت نے بعض مقامات، مہینوں، دنوں، راتوں کو فضیلت عطا فرمائی ہے، جس میں نیک اعمال کا اجر و ثواب بڑھا دیا جاتا ہے، جیسے مقامات میں خانہ کعبہ، مہینوں میں رمضان المبارک، دنوں میں یوم جمعہ کو فضیلت و بزرگی اور برتری عطا فرمائی، شب قدر رمضان المبارک کی راتوں میں سے ایک رات ہے جو بہت ہی برکت اور خیر والی رات ہے، قرآن کریم میں اس کو ہزار مہینوں سے افضل کہا گیا ہے اور اس رات کی عبادت ہزار راتوں کی عبادت سے بہتر ہے، خوش نصیب ہے وہ شخص کہ جس کو اس رات کی عبادت نصیب ہو جائے اور جو اس رات سے محروم رہا وہ بڑا ہی بدنصیب رہا۔
شب قدر وہ مخصوص رات ہے جسے اللہ تعالیٰ نے خاص فضیلت عطا کی ہے، یہی وہ رات ہے جس میں قرآن مجید نازل ہوا جو خیر و برکت کا سرچشمہ ہے، جو کام ہزاروں مہینوں میں نہ ہوا وہ اس ایک رات میں انجام پایا، نزول قرآن سے اس رات کی فضیلت ظاہر ہوتی ہے، جس رات کو اللہ تعالیٰ کی عنایت و رحمت سے خاص نسبت حاصل ہو وہ رات کبھی خیر و برکت سے خالی نہیں ہو سکتی، شب قدر کی عظمت و اہمیت کے لیے اتنی بات کافی ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس سلسلہ میں قرآن مجید میں مستقل ایک سورۃ نازل فرمائی اور فرمایا کہ اس مبارک رات میں قرآن مجید کا نزول ہوا، یہ رات اپنی فضیلت و عظمت اور عبادت و برکت کے اجر و ثواب کے لحاظ سے ہزار مہینوں سے بہتر ہے، اللہ تعالیٰ کا ارشاد مبارک ہے۔
"یقیناً ہم نے اسے (قرآن کو) شب قدر میں نازل فرمایا، تو کیا سمجھا کہ شب قدر کیا ہے؟ شب قدر ہزار مہینوں سے بہتر ہے، اس (میں) ہر کام کے سر انجام دینے کو اپنے رب کے حکم سے فرشتے اور روح (جبرئیل امین) اترتے ہیں، یہ رات سراسر سلامتی کی ہوتی ہے اور فجر کے طلوع ہونے تک (رہتی ہے)۔" (القدر، ۱۔۵)
شب قدر میں زمین کا کوئی چپہ ایسا باقی نہیں رہتا جہاں کوئی فرشتہ حالت سجود یا قیام میں مصروف مومن مرد و عورت کے لیے دعا نہ کرتا ہو، سوائے عیسائیوں کے گرجے، یہودیوں کے ہیکل، اور بت پرستوں کے مندر اور ایسے مقامات جہاں غلاظت ڈالی جاتی ہے، ان جگہوں میں فرشتے نہیں جاتے، شب قدر میں اللہ تعالیٰ کے فرشتے مسلمان مردوں اور عورتوں کے لیے دعائے رحمت میں مصروف و مشغول رہتے ہیں۔
اس رات کا تعین نہیں کیا گیا کہ وہ کون سی رات ہے، اس عدم تعین میں بھی علماء نے بے شمار حکمتیں بتلائی ہیں، ایک بڑی حکمت اور فائدہ یہ بھی ہے کہ لوگ اس ایک رات پر اکتفا نہ کریں بلکہ اس کی تلاش میں زیادہ سے زیادہ راتوں کو عبادت اور ریاضت میں مشغول رہیں، نیز اس رات کی فضیلتوں اور برکتوں کو حاصل کرنے کی صحیح تڑپ اور جستجو ان میں پیدا ہو سکے۔
یقیناً وہ شخص بڑا خوش نصیب ہے جسے یہ مبارک رات مل جائے جس رات کی عبادت ہزار مہینوں یعنی تراسی (۸۳) سال اور چار ماہ سے بہتر اور زیادہ اجر و ثواب رکھتی ہے اور وہ ایمان اور احتساب کے ساتھ ذکر و تلاوت اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی عبادت میں راتیں گزارے، اگر کوئی شخص ایسی قیمتی رات سے فائدہ نہ اٹھائے اور اس کی برکتوں کو حاصل نہ کر سکے اور اسے غفلت میں گزار دے تو اس سے زیادہ محروم اور بدنصیب کون ہوگا؟
ہم سب کو اللہ تعالیٰ کے اس متاع گراں اور تحفہ خداوندی کی قدر کرنی چاہیے، اسے غفلت، لا پرواہی یا ہنگامہ کی نذر نہیں کرنا چاہیے اور نہ ہی نمائشی طور طریقے اپنانے چاہئیں، بلکہ اخلاص و صدق کے ساتھ اس عظیم با برکت رات سے حتی الامکان فائدہ اٹھانا چاہیے، یہ طلب مغفرت کی رات ہے، اس میں انفرادی اور اجتماعی بھلائی کی دعائیں کرنی چاہئیں، اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو اس رات کے قیام کی سعادت نصیب فرمائے۔ آمین!

English translation
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said that once the month of Ramadan came, and the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "This month has come; in it is a night (i.e. Laylat al-Qadr) that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of this night has been deprived of all good, and none is deprived of its blessing except one who is (truly) deprived." (Ibn Majah)
Though every day and night of a person's life, indeed every moment, is most precious and should be spent in performing as many good deeds as possible, Allah, the Lord of Glory, has bestowed special merit upon certain places, months, days and nights, in which the reward of good deeds is multiplied. Among places He honoured the Ka'bah; among months, Ramadan; among days, Friday. Laylat al-Qadr is one of the nights of Ramadan, a night of great blessing and goodness. In the Qur'an it is called better than a thousand months, and worship in this night is better than the worship of a thousand nights. Fortunate is the one who is granted worship in this night, and whoever is deprived of it is truly unfortunate.
Laylat al-Qadr is a special night to which Allah has given particular merit. It is the very night in which the Qur'an was revealed, which is a fountain of goodness and blessing. What did not happen in thousands of months was accomplished in this one night; from the revelation of the Qur'an the merit of this night is evident. A night to which Allah gives a special connection through His grace and mercy can never be empty of goodness and blessing. As to the greatness and importance of Laylat al-Qadr, it suffices that Allah revealed a whole surah of the Qur'an concerning it, saying that the Qur'an was revealed in this blessed night. In its merit, greatness, and the reward of worship and blessing, this night is better than a thousand months. Allah says:
"Indeed We revealed it (the Qur'an) in the Night of Decree. And what will make you know what the Night of Decree is? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. In it the angels and the Spirit (Jibra'il, peace be upon him) descend, by the permission of their Lord, to carry out every command. Peace it is until the break of dawn." (Al-Qadr 1–5)
On Laylat al-Qadr there remains no patch of earth where an angel is not, in prostration or standing, praying for the believing men and women — except the churches of the Christians, the temples of the Jews, the shrines of the idolaters, and places where filth is thrown; the angels do not go to these. On Laylat al-Qadr the angels of Allah remain engaged in prayers of mercy for the Muslim men and women.
It has not been specified which exact night it is. In this lack of specification too the scholars have noted countless wisdoms. One great wisdom and benefit is that people should not suffice with this one night, but, in seeking it, remain engaged in worship and devotion over as many nights as possible, so that a true yearning and striving to attain the merits and blessings of this night may be created in them.
Truly fortunate is the one who attains this blessed night, whose worship carries more reward than a thousand months — that is, eighty-three (83) years and four months — and who spends its nights in remembrance, recitation and worship of Allah with faith and hope of reward. If someone fails to benefit from such a precious night, cannot attain its blessings, and passes it in heedlessness, who could be more deprived and unfortunate than him?
We should all value this priceless treasure and gift from Allah, and not surrender this heavenly gift to heedlessness, negligence or idle commotion, nor adopt showy ways; rather we should benefit from this great, blessed night as much as possible with sincerity and truthfulness. It is a night for seeking forgiveness, in which we should make supplications for individual and collective good. May Allah grant us all the blessing of standing in worship on this night. Ameen!
