عشرہ مبشرہ
حضرت عبد الرحمٰن بن عوف رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں، عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں، عثمان رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں، علی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں، طلحہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں، زبیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں، عبد الرحمٰن بن عوف رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں، سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں، سعید بن زید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں اور ابو عبیدہ بن الجراح رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جنت میں ہیں۔" (ترمذی)
ابن ماجہ نے اسی روایت کو حضرت سعید بن زید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے نقل کیا ہے۔
اس حدیثِ مبارکہ میں دس جلیل القدر صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم کو جنت کی بشارت دی گئی ہے، ان دس جلیل القدر صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم کی جماعت کو "عشرہ مبشرہ" کہتے ہیں۔ آنحضرت صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان حضرات کو خصوصی بشارت کے ساتھ ممتاز فرمایا تھا، اور یہ جماعت جنت کی بشارت کے حق میں بہت زیادہ مشہور و ممتاز ہے، تو اس کی مختلف وجوہات میں سے ایک خاص وجہ یہ بھی ہے کہ جنت کی بشارت ایک ساتھ ایک حدیث میں بیان فرمائی گئی ہے اور ان کے لیے جو فضیلت، مناقب اور احادیث منقول ہیں وہ اوروں کے حق میں منقول نہیں ہیں، یہاں یہ بھی سمجھ لینا چاہیے کہ جنت کی خصوصی بشارت انہیں دس صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم کے حق میں منقول نہیں بلکہ اہلِ بیت یعنی آنحضرت صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اولاد اور ازواجِ مطہرات کے حق میں بھی ہے اور ان کے علاوہ دوسرے صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم کے حق میں بھی ہے۔
البتہ صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم کی اس مبارک جماعت (عشرہ مبشرہ) کو تمام صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم پر فضیلت و برتری حاصل ہے، اور اس میں بھی سب سے پہلے خلفائے اربعہ سب سے افضل ہیں اور پھر باقی چھ حضرات دیگر صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم سے افضل ہیں۔
ان عشرہ مبشرہ کو جو خاص بشارتیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے عطا فرمائیں ان میں سے چند بشارتیں مندرجہ ذیل ہیں:
"اگر میں کسی کو خلیل بناتا تو ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو خلیل بناتا، تاہم ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ میرے بھائی ہیں اور میرے رفیق و ساتھی ہیں۔" (مسلم)
"اگر میرے بعد کوئی نبی ہوتا تو وہ عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ہوتے۔" (ترمذی)
"ہر نبی کا ایک رفیق (یعنی ہمراہی اور مہربان ساتھی و دوست) ہوتا ہے، اور میرے رفیق جنت میں عثمان رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ہیں۔" (ترمذی)
"علی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ مجھ سے ہیں اور میں علی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے ہوں۔" (ترمذی)
"جو شخص کسی شہید کا دیدار کرنا چاہتا ہو جو زمین پر چلتا پھرتا ہے تو وہ طلحہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو دیکھے۔" (ترمذی)
"ہر نبی کے حواری (یعنی خاص دوست اور مددگار) ہوتے ہیں اور میرے حواری زبیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ہیں۔" (بخاری و مسلم)
"اے اللہ! عبد الرحمٰن بن عوف رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو جنت کی نہر سلسبیل سے سیراب کر۔" (احمد)
"اے اللہ! سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جب تجھ سے دعا مانگے تو اس کی دعا قبول فرما۔" (ترمذی)
"ہر امت کا ایک امین ہوتا ہے اور اس امت کے امین ابو عبیدہ بن الجراح رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ہیں۔" (بخاری و مسلم)
حضرت سعید بن زید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی بہن حضرت فاطمہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے شوہر تھے اور یہ وہی فاطمہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا ہیں جو حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے قبولِ اسلام کا ذریعہ بنیں۔

English translation
'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Abu Bakr is in Paradise, 'Umar is in Paradise, 'Uthman is in Paradise, 'Ali is in Paradise, Talha is in Paradise, al-Zubayr is in Paradise, 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf is in Paradise, Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas is in Paradise, Sa'id bin Zaid is in Paradise, and Abu 'Ubaidah bin al-Jarrah is in Paradise (may Allah be pleased with them all)." (Tirmidhi)
Ibn Majah reported this same narration from Sa'id bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him). This hadith gives the glad tidings of Paradise to ten of the most eminent Companions; this group of ten eminent Companions is called "al-'Ashara al-Mubashshara" (the ten given glad tidings). The Prophet ﷺ distinguished these men with this special glad tiding, and this group is very well known and distinguished with respect to the glad tiding of Paradise. One special reason among others is that the glad tiding of Paradise was stated for them together in a single hadith, and the virtues, merits and narrations recorded for them are not recorded for others. It should also be understood that the special glad tiding of Paradise is not recorded only for these ten Companions, but also for the Ahl al-Bayt — the children and pure wives of the Prophet ﷺ — and for other Companions besides them. However, this blessed group of Companions (the 'Ashara Mubashshara) holds virtue and superiority over all other Companions; and among them the four Rightly-Guided Caliphs are the most superior, and then the remaining six are superior to the other Companions. Among the special glad tidings the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted these ten are: "Had I taken anyone as a khalil (intimate friend), I would have taken Abu Bakr as a khalil, but Abu Bakr is my brother and my companion." (Muslim) "If there were to be a prophet after me, it would be 'Umar." (Tirmidhi) "Every prophet has a companion (a close and kind friend), and my companion in Paradise is 'Uthman." (Tirmidhi) "'Ali is from me and I am from 'Ali." (Tirmidhi) "Whoever wishes to look at a martyr walking upon the earth, let him look at Talha." (Tirmidhi) "Every prophet has a disciple (hawari, a special friend and helper), and my disciple is al-Zubayr." (Bukhari and Muslim) "O Allah, give 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf to drink from the river of Salsabil in Paradise." (Ahmad) "O Allah, when Sa'd supplicates to You, answer his supplication." (Tirmidhi) "Every nation has a trustee (amin), and the trustee of this nation is Abu 'Ubaidah bin al-Jarrah." (Bukhari and Muslim) Sa'id bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) was the husband of Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the sister of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) — the same Fatimah who was the means of 'Umar's acceptance of Islam.
