سلام کی فضیلت و اہمیت

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "You cannot enter Paradise until you become complete believers (that is, until your whole life becomes one of faith), and you cannot become complete believers until love exists among you. Shall I not tell you of something which, if you do it, will create love and affection among you? (It is this:) Spread the greeting of peace (salam) abundantly among yourselves." (Muslim)

Greeting one another with salam is among the principles of Islam by which a Muslim is recognised. It is the finest and most complete prayerful phrase — reflect a moment on its meaning: it means, "May Allah grant you safety of every kind." It carries tenderness and love for those younger than oneself and respect and honour for those who are older. To initiate the salam is a Sunnah, while to return it is obligatory. This prayerful phrase should be spread widely and offered often, so that a spiritual bond of love, brotherhood, and closeness may be established among us.
