ایمانِ کامل
حضرت سفیان بن عبداللہ ثقفی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمتِ اقدس میں عرض کیا کہ اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! مجھے اسلام کے بارے میں ایسی بات بتا دیجیے کہ آپ کے بعد پھر مجھے کسی دوسرے سے پوچھنے کی ضرورت باقی نہ رہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ کہہ "آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ" (یعنی زبان و دل سے اس بات کا اقرار کر کہ میں اللہ پر ایمان لایا) اور پھر اسی اقرار پر (استقامت کے ساتھ) قائم رہو۔ (مسلم)
اس حدیث میں مختصر الفاظ میں پورے دین کا خلاصہ بیان کر دیا گیا ہے، اللہ تعالیٰ پر ایمان لانا در حقیقت دین کی بنیاد ہے۔ اللہ پر ایمان لانے کا مطلب صرف اس کی ہستی کا قائل ہونا ہی نہیں کہ وہ ہے، بلکہ اس کے ساتھ ساتھ یہ بھی ضروری ہے کہ اللہ کو اس کی تمام صفات کے ساتھ مانے اور اس کے تمام حقوق کو تسلیم کرے، وہی شخص کامیاب ہے جو اللہ پر ایمان لایا اور اس کے خالق و مالک رب، آقا اور حاکم ہونے کا اقرار کیا اور اسی پر (استقامت کے ساتھ) قائم رہا۔
اللہ پر ایمان لانے کے بعد اس کے عبد و بندے بن کر خوف اور امید کے ساتھ اس کی بندگی میں زندگی بسر کرنا ایمان ہے، اور اسی پر قائم رہنا سب سے بڑی سعادت ہے۔ قرآنِ مجید اور احادیث میں ایسے لوگوں کے بارے میں خوش خبریاں بیان کی گئی ہیں، ارشادِ ربانی ہے:
"بے شک جن لوگوں نے کہا کہ ہمارا رب اللہ ہے، پھر وہ (اس پر) قائم رہے، ان پر فرشتے اترتے ہیں (اور کہتے ہیں) کہ نہ ڈرو اور نہ غم کرو، بلکہ اس جنت کی بشارت سنو جس کا تم سے وعدہ کیا گیا تھا۔" (حٰم السجدہ – ۳۰)
دراصل اللہ پر ایمان لانے سے مراد پورے دین پر ایمان لانا اور اسی پر استقامت اختیار کرنا ہے، جو شخص اس دین پر صدقِ دل سے ایمان رکھتا ہے اور اسی پر قائم رہتا ہے وہ بلا شبہ جنت میں جائے گا، اور اگر کبھی کسی وجہ سے اس سے گناہ سرزد بھی ہو جائے تو اللہ تعالیٰ اسے معاف فرما دے گا اور بغیر کسی عذاب کے جنت میں داخل کرے گا، لیکن اگر وہ گناہ کا مستحق ہوا تو گناہوں کی سزا پانے کے بعد بالآخر اسے جنت ہی میں داخل کیا جائے گا، بہرحال جو دینِ اسلام پر صدقِ دل سے ایمان لے آیا اور اسی پر قائم رہا وہ ضرور جنت میں جائے گا۔
یعنی جو لوگ اللہ کی وحدانیت اور اس کی ذات و صفات کے اعتقاد کے ساتھ ایمان لائیں، پھر اسی پر ثابت قدم رہیں، یہ ایمان بھی اسی کی الوہیت کے اعتقاد و اقرار کی عملی صورت ہے، اور اس کی صداقت و حقانیت پر ایمان رکھیں، اور اللہ اور اس کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سب احکام کو قبول کریں اور ان کی فرمانبرداری کریں، یہی سچی اطاعت اور ایمان ہے۔ اطاعت جب تک نہ ہو ایمان میں کمال نہیں، اطاعتِ رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم لازم ہے اور ایمان بھی مطلوب ہے۔
جب انسان اللہ تعالیٰ پر ایمان لے آتا ہے اور اس کے احکام پر استقامت کے ساتھ قائم رہتا ہے تو اللہ تعالیٰ اسے دنیا و آخرت میں ہر طرح کی خوشی اور راحتیں عطا فرماتا ہے، اور اسے وہ نعمتیں عطا کی جائیں گی جو ابھی تک کسی نے نہ دیکھی ہیں نہ سنی ہیں، اور جنت میں وہ نعمتیں انبیاء علیہم السلام کی زبانی بیان کی گئی ہیں جو اب سے وفا کیے جانے والی ہیں۔
اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو اللہ پر سچا ایمان اور اس پر استقامت نصیب فرمائے۔ آمین!

English translation
Sufyan ibn 'Abdullah al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "O Messenger of Allah, tell me something about Islam such that I need never ask anyone else about it after you." The Prophet ﷺ said: "Say, 'I believe in Allah' (that is, affirm with your tongue and heart that you believe in Allah), and then remain steadfast upon that affirmation." (Muslim)
In this hadith the whole of the religion has been summed up in a few words: to believe in Allah is in reality the foundation of the religion. To believe in Allah does not mean merely to affirm His existence — that He is — but along with that it is also necessary to acknowledge Allah with all His attributes and to accept all His rights. Successful is the one who believes in Allah, affirms Him as the Creator, Master, Lord, Sovereign and Ruler, and then remains steadfast upon that (with perseverance). After believing in Allah, to live as His servant, spending life in His worship between fear and hope, is faith, and to remain steadfast upon it is the greatest good fortune. In the Qur'an and the ahadith glad tidings are given about such people; in one place Allah says: "Indeed, those who say, 'Our Lord is Allah,' and then remain steadfast — the angels descend upon them (saying), 'Do not fear, nor grieve, but receive the good news of the Paradise which you were promised.'" (Fussilat 41:30) In truth, believing in Allah means believing in the entire religion and remaining steadfast upon it. Whoever believes in this religion with a sincere heart and remains firm upon it will undoubtedly enter Paradise; and if some sin is ever committed by him, Allah will forgive him and admit him into Paradise without any punishment, but if he is deserving of punishment, then after receiving the recompense for his sins he will at last be admitted into Paradise. In any case, whoever believes in the religion of Islam with a sincere heart and remains firm upon it will surely enter Paradise. Those who believe in the Oneness of Allah and in His Being and attributes, and then remain steadfast — this faith too is the practical form of affirming His divinity — and who believe in its truth, and accept all the commands of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ and obey them: this is true obedience and faith. Until there is obedience, faith is not complete; obedience to the Messenger ﷺ is obligatory and faith is required. When a person believes in Allah and remains steadfast upon His commands, Allah grants him every kind of joy and comfort in this world and the Hereafter, and he will be given blessings that no one has yet seen or heard, blessings of Paradise described by the tongues of the Prophets (peace be upon them), which are to be fulfilled. May Allah grant us all true faith in Him and steadfastness upon it. Amin!
