سود کے بارے میں رسول اکرم ﷺ کی ایک پیشین گوئی
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ: “لوگوں پر ایک ایسا زمانہ آئے گا کہ ہر شخص سود کھانے والا ہوگا، (کوئی بھی اس سے محفوظ نہ ہوگا) اگر خود سود نہ بھی کھانا ہوگا تو اس کے بخارات یا اس کا غبار ضرور اس کے اندر پہنچے گا”۔ (ابو داؤد، نسائی، ابن ماجہ و احمد)
اللہ تعالیٰ نے جو نظامِ عدل اپنے بندوں کے لیے پسند فرمایا ہے اس کا ایک تقاضا یہ ہے کہ ساری زندگی اللہ تعالیٰ اور اس کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اطاعت و فرمانبرداری میں بسر کی جائے اور دوسرا تقاضا یہ ہے کہ بندے آپس میں محبت، اخوت، ایثار، ہمدردی، فیاضی اور امدادِ باہمی کے اصولوں پر زندگی گزاریں، جب کہ سودی نظام کی فطرت یہ ہے کہ وہ انسان میں دشمنی، نفرت، خود غرضی، مفاد پرستی، شقاوت، بے رحمی اور زر پرستی کی صفات پیدا کرتا ہے، یعنی سود پورے کے پورے اسلامی نظام کی روح اور اس کے اسلامی تشخص کو قتل کردیتا ہے، اسی لیے اللہ تعالیٰ نے سود خوروں کو اتنے سخت ترین الفاظ میں خبردار کیا ہے کہ اہلِ شرک کے علاوہ کسی دوسرے گناہ کے مرتکب کے لیے ایسے الفاظ قرآن کریم میں استعمال نہیں ہوئے، فرمانِ الٰہی ہے:
“اے لوگو! جو ایمان لائے ہو، اللہ سے ڈرو اور جو کچھ تمہارا سود لوگوں پر باقی رہ گیا ہے اسے چھوڑ دو، اگر واقعی تم نے ایسا نہ کیا تو آگاہ ہو جاؤ کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے تمہارے خلاف اعلانِ جنگ ہے” (البقرہ ۲۷۸، ۲۷۹)
اس حدیث پاک میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ارشاد کا مقصد مستقبل کے بارے میں صرف ایک پیشین گوئی کرنا نہیں ہے بلکہ اصل مقصد امت کو خبردار کرنا ہے کہ ایک ایسا وقت آنے والا ہے جب سود کی وبا عام ہو جائے گی اور اس سے محفوظ رہنا بہت ہی دشوار ہوگا، لہٰذا چاہیے کہ ہر صاحبِ ایمان اور صاحبِ تقویٰ اس بارے میں ہوشیار رہے، اور اپنے آپ کو اس لعنت سے محفوظ رکھنے کی فکر اور کوشش کرتا رہے، یقیناً ہمارا دور بھی وہی دور ہے۔
بخار یا غبار سے مراد سود کا اثر ہے، مطلب یہ کہ سود کے عام ابتلاء کے زمانے میں اگر کوئی شخص براہِ راست سود کے لین دین سے بچ بھی جائے گا تو وہ کسی نہ کسی صورت میں سود کے زیرِ اثر ضرور ہوگا، یعنی یا تو وہ کسی سود خور کا ملازم ہوگا یا اس کے اپنے ذاتی و تجارتی معاملات سود خوروں کے ساتھ استوار ہوں گے، یہاں تک کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے جو بندے سود کو لعنت سمجھتے ہیں اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی توفیق سے اس سے پرہیز کرتے ہیں وہ بھی اپنا غذائی سامان یا پہننے کا کپڑا یا دوسری ضروریاتِ زندگی کا سامان جن دکان داروں یا لوگوں سے خریدتے ہیں ان کے کاروبار کا رشتہ بلا واسطہ یا بالواسطہ کسی نہ کسی سودی سلسلہ سے ضرور ہے، حدیث کا یہی مفہوم ہے کہ آنے والے وقت میں سود کی لعنت اتنی ہمہ گیر اور وسیع تر ہوگی کہ ہر شخص شعوری و غیر شعوری طور پر اس میں مبتلا ہوگا، کوئی بلا واسطہ سود کھائے گا، کوئی بالواسطہ اس کا مرتکب ہوگا اور کوئی بالکل ہی غیر شعوری طور پر اس کے زیرِ اثر ہوگا، آج کے اس دور میں کسی کاروباری سلسلے کا اس سے محفوظ رہنا اتنا ہی مشکل ہے جتنا جنگل کے کسی درخت کا ہوا سے محفوظ رہنا۔
اے اللہ! ہم سب کو اپنے فضل و کرم سے ہر قسم کے سودی معاملات سے محفوظ فرما۔ آمین!

اے اللہ! ہم سب کو اپنے فضل و کرم سے ہر قسم کے سودی معاملات سے محفوظ فرما۔ آمین!
English translation
Abu Hurayrah (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A time will come upon people when everyone will be a consumer of interest (riba) — (no one will be safe from it) — and even one who does not himself consume interest, its vapour or its dust will surely reach him." (Abu Dawud, Nasa'i, Ibn Majah and Ahmad)
The system of justice that Allah has approved for His servants requires, on the one hand, that one's whole life be spent in obedience and submission to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, and, on the other, that people live together on the principles of love, brotherhood, self-sacrifice, sympathy, generosity and mutual assistance. The nature of the interest-based system, by contrast, is that it breeds in a person enmity, hatred, selfishness, self-interest, hard-heartedness, mercilessness and the worship of wealth — that is, interest slays the very spirit and Islamic character of the entire Islamic order. That is why Allah has warned the consumers of interest in the sternest terms — such terms as have not been used in the Qur'an for the perpetrator of any sin other than that of shirk. Allah says:
"O you who believe! Fear Allah and give up what remains of interest, if you are believers. And if you do not, then be warned of a war from Allah and His Messenger ﷺ." (al-Baqarah 278–279)
In this blessed hadith the aim of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ words is not merely to make a prediction about the future; rather the real aim is to warn the Ummah that a time is coming when the plague of interest will become widespread and it will be very hard to remain safe from it. So every person of faith and piety should be on guard in this matter, and keep striving and taking care to protect himself from this curse — for surely our age too is that very age.
By "vapour" or "dust" is meant the effect of interest; the meaning is that, in the age of the general affliction of interest, even if someone escapes direct dealing in interest, he will in some form or other be under its influence: either he will be an employee of one who deals in interest, or his own personal and business dealings will be bound up with those who deal in interest. Indeed, even those servants of Allah who regard interest as a curse and, by Allah's enabling grace, abstain from it — even they buy their food, clothing and other necessities of life from shopkeepers or people whose businesses are, directly or indirectly, connected to some interest-based chain. This is the meaning of the hadith: that in the time to come the curse of interest will be so pervasive and far-reaching that everyone will be involved in it, whether knowingly or unknowingly — one will consume interest directly, another will be complicit indirectly, and another will be under its influence entirely unwittingly. In this age of ours, for any business dealing to remain safe from it is as hard as for a tree of the forest to remain safe from the air.
O Allah! By Your grace and bounty, keep us all safe from every kind of interest-based dealing. Ameen!
