عمل خیر سے مت رکو!
عَنْ أَنَسَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنْ قَامَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَ فِيْ أَحَدِكُمْ فَسِيْلَةٌ فَإِنِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ لَا يَقُوْمَ حَتّٰى يَغْرِسَهَا فَلْيَفْعَلْ۔
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "اگر (بالفرض) قیامت طاری ہو چکی ہے اور (اس وقت) تم میں سے کسی کے پاس کھجور کا پودا ہے (جس کو وہ لگانا چاہتا تھا) تو اگر اس سے کے لیے ممکن ہو کہ اس کو لگا دے تو ایسا کر گزرے۔" (مسند احمد)
یہ حدیث شریف ایک ایسا عجیب و غریب پیغام دے رہی ہے جو ہمارے بہت سے خیالات و اوہام اور پریشانیوں کا علاج ہے۔ اس حدیث پاک میں اس بات کی جانب واضح پیغام ہے کہ دنیا دار العمل ہے اور انسان کو چاہیے کہ آخری لمحہ تک عمل خیر میں مصروف رہے۔ غور طلب بات ہے کہ ایک ایسا انسان جس کو یہ معلوم ہو چکا ہو کہ صور پھونکا جا چکا ہے۔ یہ دنیا اپنی مدت پوری کر چکی ہے۔ اس کی بساط پلٹنے والی ہے۔ ہر چیز کا اختتام ہو چکا ہے۔ ایسے وقت میں اس کو اس بات کی ترغیب دی جا رہی ہے کہ اگر ممکن ہو تو کھجور کا پودا لگا دو چاہے اس سے نہ اس کی ذات کو کوئی فائدہ ہے نہ اس کے علاوہ کوئی اور انسان اس سے فائدہ اٹھا سکتا ہے۔
اس حدیث سے ہمیں یہ سبق ملتا ہے کہ نیکی اور بھلائی در حقیقت انسان کے اپنے فائدے کے لیے ہے۔ مایوسی اور نا امیدی اس وقت طاری ہوتی ہے جب انسان اپنی کوششوں کا وہ نتیجہ نہیں پاتا جس کا وہ خواہش مند ہوتا ہے اور ایسا کرتے وقت وہ یہ بھول جاتا ہے کہ حقیقی کامیابی تو آخرت کی کامیابی ہے اور سب سے بڑی ناکامی وہاں کی ناکامی ہے۔ اگر ہماری کوششوں کا نتیجہ یہاں بھی نظر آ گیا تو یہ اس مالک کا کرم ہے ورنہ اخروی اجر تو کہیں نہیں گیا۔
اصلاح احوال کے لیے ہماری کوشش خود ہمارے حق میں اللہ کے دربار میں ہمارا عذر ہے اسی طرح یہ ان لوگوں پر بھی دلیل ہے جو راہ حق چھوڑ کر دشمنان اسلام کا ساتھ دیتے ہیں۔ اور اس دور فتن میں دین پر عمل کا درجہ بھی تو دیکھنا چاہیے۔ جب مال کی کمی ہو تو بازار میں دام بھی زیادہ ہو جاتے ہیں۔ آج کے دور میں نیکی کا قحط ہے تو پھر اللہ کے دربار میں اس کی قدر بھی اسی درجے زیادہ ہوگی۔
آج ہم جس دور سے گزر رہے ہیں جہاں باطل بظاہر چھایا ہوا ہے۔ شیطان کے کارندے مختلف طریقوں سے اسلام اور اہل اسلام کو پابند سلاسل کر رہے ہیں حالات بظاہر مایوس کن ہیں۔ اب یہ خیال ذہنوں میں سمانے لگا ہے کہ گویا قیامت قریب ہے۔ اور اب قیامت کی بڑی نشانیوں کا ظہور ہونے والا ہے۔ لہٰذا اب اصلاح احوال کی کوئی کوشش بیکار اور بے فائدہ ہے۔ اب حق اور سچائی ہر گزرتے دن کے ساتھ پیچھے ہٹتے جائیں گے اور یہ دور اور آنے والا ہر دور شیطان کی جماعت کا ہی ہے۔ یہاں تک کہ ہر طرف کفر ہی کفر چھا جائے گا اور پھر قیامت طاری ہو جائے گی۔ اس کا علم تو اللہ عالم الغیب و الشہادۃ ہی کو ہے کہ وہ مرحلہ ابھی کتنا قریب ہے شاید اتنا قریب کہ ہمارے گمان میں بھی نہ ہو یا اس میں صدیوں کا وقت باقی ہو۔ بلکہ خود آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا اس دنیا میں تشریف لانا بھی علامات قیامت میں سے ہے جیسا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: میری آمد اور قیامت کی آمد اس طرح میں ہے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے شہادت کی انگلی اور بیچ کی انگلی کھول کر دکھایا، (بخاری، مسلم)۔
یہ تمام باتیں بر حق ہیں لیکن یہ حدیث ہمیں اس بات کی ترغیب دیتی ہے کہ اگر قیامت کی سب سے بڑی دلیل یعنی صور پھونکا جانا بھی بر ظاہر ہو جائے تو بھی ہم اپنی کوشش اور عمل سے نہ رکیں۔ اگر نیکی اور بھلائی کا کوئی کام ہو سکتا ہو تو اس کو ترک نہ کریں کر گزریں۔ تو پھر ہمارے لیے کون سا عذر ہے کہ ہم ہاتھ پیر چھوڑ کر بیٹھ جائیں جب کہ ہمارے سامنے تو ابھی اس کی دیگر بڑی علامتیں بھی نہیں آئی ہیں۔ ہم تو ہمت بلند رکھیں اور اپنی کوششیں جاری رکھیں اور اپنے رب کو راضی کر لیں اور اس کی رضا سے بڑی سعادت کیا ہوگی!

English translation
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If (suppose) the Hour has come upon you and at that moment one of you has a date palm shoot (which he had meant to plant), then if it is possible for him to plant it, let him do so."
This noble hadith conveys a message so remarkable and extraordinary that it is a cure for many of our thoughts, delusions and anxieties. In this blessed hadith there is a clear message that this world is the abode of action, and that a person should remain occupied in good works until the very last moment. It is worth reflecting upon: a person who has come to know that the trumpet has already been blown, that this world has completed its term, that its order is about to be overturned, that everything has come to an end — at such a time he is being urged that if it is possible, plant the date palm shoot, even though neither he himself will derive any benefit from it nor any other person besides him.
From this hadith we learn the lesson that goodness and kindness are in reality for a person's own benefit. Despair and hopelessness overtake a person when he does not obtain from his efforts the result he desired, and in doing so he forgets that real success is the success of the Hereafter and that the greatest failure is failure there. If the result of our efforts becomes visible here too, that is the grace of the Master; and if not, the reward of the Hereafter has gone nowhere.
Our striving to set matters right is itself, in our own favour, our plea in the court of Allah; likewise it is also a proof against those who abandon the path of truth and side with the enemies of Islam. And in this age of trials one should also consider the rank of acting upon the religion. When goods are scarce, their price in the market rises too. In today's age there is a famine of righteousness, so its worth in the court of Allah will be correspondingly greater.
The age we are passing through today is one in which falsehood is outwardly dominant. The agents of Satan are putting Islam and the people of Islam in chains by various means, and outwardly the circumstances are disheartening. The thought has now begun to settle in minds that the Hour is as good as near, that the great signs of the Last Day are about to appear, and that therefore any effort to set matters right is useless and futile; that truth and honesty will now retreat with every passing day, and that this age and every age to come belongs to the party of Satan, until unbelief spreads everywhere and then the Hour comes to pass. The knowledge of this belongs to Allah alone, the Knower of the unseen and the seen: how near that stage is — perhaps so near that it is beyond our imagining, or perhaps centuries of it remain. Indeed, the coming of the Prophet (peace be upon him) into this world is itself among the signs of the Hour, as he said: "My coming and the coming of the Hour are like this," and he opened out his index finger and his middle finger to show it (Bukhari, Muslim).
All these things are true, but this hadith urges us that even if the greatest proof of the Hour — the blowing of the trumpet — were to become manifest, we should still not stop our striving and our deeds. If any work of goodness and kindness is possible, we should not abandon it but carry it out. What excuse then is there for us to give up and sit idle, when its other great signs have not yet even appeared before us? Let us rather keep our courage high, keep our efforts going, and win the pleasure of our Lord — and what greater good fortune could there be than His pleasure!
